Wishaw Wizard John Higgins is back to world number 1 again after an excellent comeback against Mark Williams in the final session of the UK Chamionships.
William's started the evening 6-2 up against Higgins and looked certain to take the trophy when he was 9-7 up, with Higgins needing a snooker for any chance of winning the frame but Higgins battled back, got the snooker and went on to win the frame.
The final came to 9-9 with both players having good chances at winning the match. However it was John Higgins who came out on top again clinching his fifth frame in a row and taking the UK Championship.
The world number 1 from Wishaw told reporters after the final:
"I was a man on a mission. I was really determined to try and stop anything which prevented me from winning it," said Higgins, who reclaimed his world number one spot with victory.
"Given everything that surrounds it, this is my finest hour on the table. It means everything, just to be back playing and winning. It means a great deal. I just never gave up.
"I thought 9-5 was too big a mountain but each frame was going past and I was still in it. It is an unbelievable feeling."
